A number of years ago Forward Coupar Angus recognised the need to maintain the viability of the Charity Shop for its long term sustainability. With the support of local investors the shop was purchased for the community. Links established with the Scottish Government Climate Challenge Fund and the Community Recycling Network for Scotland has enabled the Charity Shop to be promoted as Re-Use Shop based on the contribution it can make towards promoting recyling and re-using products at a local level.
The Coupar Angus Re-Use Shop, formerly Charity Shop, on George Street is used by local people and those from further afield.
The shop enables a broad range of organisations and individuals to fundraise income for their causes and beneficiaries, and of course it offers welcome bargains for people looking to browse for things that are 'New to You'.
In the coming years, we look forward to retaining the Re-Use Store as simple reminder of how individuals can reduce their own carbon footprint by reusing or recycling products instead of buying new. Making an impact, however small, on Scotland’s desire to become a leading nation implementing measures to combat climate change.
