The group’s activities range from trimming hedges to moving sheds and greenhouse intact and lending a hand with community events. It works closely with other town groups like the Coupar Angus Illuminators to help put up the annual Christmas Lights and with Pride of Place team to help with placing our award-winning flower hanging baskets around the town.

FCA assists the MAD Squad with grant applications when equipment or tools are needed. The Squad have been awarded grants from the Paths for All Fund, to invested in a range of powered gardening tools, including strimmer’s, hedge trimmers, blowers and a chain saw, which has allowed the group to increase the range of activities the Squad can undertake.
The Squad’s invaluable contribution to the town also includes looking after greenspaces and verges in our community, restoring and caring for the previously impassible footbridge across the Coupar Angus burn so it can be used by walkers and dog owners and providing essential help in our community and school gardens. The Squad can also help with technical tasks, such as helping with building makeovers and painting community buildings in need of cheering up.
Members of the Squad comprise mainly retired men from a very diverse range of backgrounds including pharmacy, education, running a local business, IT, Council operations and journalism. This interesting and diverse mix of personalities encompasses a broad range of expertise able to tackle almost anything, with no job in Coupar Angus is too small and most not being not too big.
And, if the Make a Difference (MAD) Squad cannot help, they will certainly know someone who can help!
